CSAC List Notice This is the third and hopefully final list notice to be sent to everyone for this year. The exception is when there is a problem which begins to generate e-mail from individuals, in which case we do send a brief explanation to the list involved. This mail is going to our three largest lists - those serving the Northwest, Colorado, and Utah. A similar message will go out to the other lists before long. These three lists have been operating regularly and pretty much reliably for a while now. Last season this became a "premium" service for CSAC contributors. An explanation of this is posted on the maillists page (see header for URL) along with problem reports etc. Please bookmark this page and check there for information on problems, help unsubscribing, etc. On Dec 20 we will remove all addresses not affiliated with contributors. To remain on any lists (as many as you wish) it is necessary to make a contribution of any amount. While the reasons for this are outlined on the web page referenced above a few points need to be made: 1) All contributions go to the CSAC to help pay the bills involved in providing our internet resources, including the list systems and the web pages. They do not go to the avalanche centers issuing the bulletins. These centers are government organizations and do not charge for their services. All three have six digit annual budgets and all three bulletins are available for free on the web and via telephone. 2) There is no guarantee of reliability for these lists. Many subscribers have utilized our lists for several years and found very high reliability, but there are occasionaly problems. This is particularly true on these three lists since these three centers do not cooperate in providing a direct feed to the lists as do the smaller centers serving our other lists. It is inevitable that a few addresses which should not be removed are. We will correct this quickly if you get in touch with us, you will be resubscribed without having to go through the authorization e-mail thing. You can help prevent this by making sure that we have your correct address as it appears on our list. Any addresses subscribing to this list after this message will not be removed until the next time. Anyone who is unsubscribed is still free to resubscribe on their own. You will have to authenticate your subscription. Please do ask for our time helping you out if you aren't going to support the project. We do keep track of removed addresses for future reference and will not guarantee that you will be able to resubscribe all winter. But for now it is ok if you need more time to make a contribution. Remember that all of our web content is available to the public at no cost. This includes our web versions of avalanche bulletins which have key terms linked to our glossary. For those who are interested in supporting us at levels of $10 (suggested per list), $35, or $75 there are additional benefits.
