Avalanche Center Mail Lists, 2000-2001

This is a pre-season mailing to test our lists, identify and remove bad
e-mail addresses, and update people for the coming season.

We recently completed a server move. This was overdue but we had put it
off as long as possible due to the cost in time of making such a major
change. Essentially all time spent on this project is uncompensated, so
the task had always seemed daunting. This mailing is our first
verification of each list we run, although we have tested our majordomo
installation fairly thoroughly at this point.

One result of our move is that all cgi scripts are now under the csac.org
domain, rather than having most of them under i-world.net. There are still
some links which have not been found and updated, if you attempt to
subscribe or unsubscribe on the web interface and get an error please let
us know. We believe that all links from the "Mail List Central" page work,
http://www.avalanche-center.org/Bulletins/maillists/

We are suggesting a contribution of $15 this season. As always, this is a
suggested amount and anyone who contributes any amount is welcome to use
our list system. However, additional benefits such as free store shipping
for the year and use of the incidents update list require a contribution
of at least $15 this year. This is also the default value on the mail list
contribution forms now

Assuming that everything works correctly we will not send anything more
for a while, until the bulletins get closer to being issued. Further
information will follow at that time. A few notes on fall and early winter
avalanche hazards have been added to our Education section as a reminder
for those who just can't wait to get out on the snow.
