E-mail List Status Update

Subject: Duplicate bulletin emails eliminated

Due to ongoing problems with duplicate copies (or actually near-duplicate ones) we have modified our list system to send only the first bulletin each day. This means afternoon updates will not be mailed out to the listserv either, although they are not common anyway. The web-posted version is still updated hourly.

Here is the new paragraph in the list welcome file:

"The first version of the bulletin issued each day will be mailed to this email list. The Utah Avalanche Center frequently re-issues the bulletin within the first hour to correct minor typos and make small wording changes.
These changes are so small that subscribers considered them duplicates and we now mail out only the first one each day. Our web-posted version is updated hourly and will reflect any minor corrections as well as any
afternoon updates that may be issued."

The other change for this year has been the html email list and that seems to be working for many people who prefer it. We have tweaked the coding a bit and if you are reading the html version and having problems let us know so we can determine whether any more fine-tuning is needed.

This should conclude the changes for this season and all seems to be running smoothly now. Hopefully this amounts to improved service for you, the subcscribers.
