A patroller took a long ride today on a steep E aspect and ended up with a broken femur but is doing OK.

January 13, 1998

An experienced avalanche worker was caught by a slide in Big Cottonwood yesterday. A section of slope between two shot holes released as he made a ski cut, taking him for a long and nasty ride. He was buried about 3 feet deep with a broken femur and was not breathing when he was dug out. He was found by a beacon search and was resuscitated.
