Date: saturday, March 13, 1999 Time: 11:00 AM The avalanche danger for Tuckerman Ravine is MODERATE. We picked up 1.6 inches (4 cm) of new snow in the past 24 hours. Natural avalanches are very unlikely, and human triggered avalanches are possible. Caution is advised in the steeper terrain as there are possible unstable slabs . Huntington has LOW TO MODERATE avalanche danger. Looking up, the gullies to the left of central are low, where central and gullies to the right are moderate. We recieved around 1.6 inches (4 cm) of new snow in the past 24 hours. The Lion Head winter route is open. Remember that this trail is very steep and in marginal condition. Safe travel requires excellent mountaineering skills and the use of hands and feet. Crampons, ice ax, and their proficient use are all a must for safe travel on this route. The John Sherburne Ski Trail is open. Please do not ski, slide, or ride on the Tuckerman Ravine Trail. Please Remember: Any new precipitation will increase the avalanche danger.
