Dangerous unstable slabs up to five feet in depth exist. They lie upon good sliding surfaces and well developed weak layers of faceted snow. These unstable slabs are likely to be easily triggered by humans and could release naturally. On Thursday, a skier triggered a large avalanche on a northerly aspect at an elevation 9,100 feet in the Salt River Range. Similar events are likely today. An avalanche watch remains in effect for the western mountains of Wyoming.
