Cyberspace Snow and Avalanche Center http://www.avalanche-center.org/ Update - Feb 26, 1997 Our webmaster has been travelling a lot the past six months, so keeping things running has been the highest priority. However, a number of things have been added. Watch for more new and updated material over the next few weeks now that the webmaster is back. Store: We are in the process of adding some additional items. We now carry the new video "Beating the Odds" from the Canadian Avalanche Association. Other new items should be available soon. Remember that proceeds from the store help us to keep the whole project running. Bulletins: New bulletins include the Voralberg area of Austria, Eastern Sierra (Mammoth California), Colorado (yes it is finally on the net!), and Southern Utah (LaSal Mtns). The Forest Service Data General went through a few changes recently and we have been having some problems with the SW Montana bulletin. This may be close to being fixed, thanks to a lot of effort by Karl Birkeland in Bozeman. The Idaho weather seems to have disappeared - we have sent email asking what happened to it since all the other states are still there. On our task list is a cleaning up of our mailing list and posting systems. Hopefully this will mean additional bulletins available by email. Incidents: Still growing. Many more reports on accidents outside North America this year, although in most cases all we have is from the mainstream media. On the task list is converting older reports to the new html style and adding info on past years which has accumulated here in the office. Education: This has been neglected for a while. We will be revamping it entirely, hopefully soon. Still lots of good info, but there are probably some bad links as well as some things that should be linked in and aren't. Other Cool Stuff: We have not changed this much but will have new material soon. The index to pictures on the web is currently being reformatted and updated. There should be additional statistics info soon. Our only sponsor for this page so far, Alpengroup, has some additional news stories and first hand accounts which we will be adding when we receive them. Improvement of the links section has also been on our task list a while. Professional Resources: No recent changes. Once we make some progress on our task list we'll issue another update. Meanwhile, check back once in a while! Finally, this is a whole lot of work which is being done with very minimal resources. Thanks a lot to our sponsors and to the long list of people who have contributed.
