December 12, 2021 - With climate change, avalanches are migrating upslope

It has been demonstrated that the +1.5°C increase in temperature in the Vosges Mountains that occurred between the middle of the 19th century and the beginning of the twentieth (marking the end of what is known as the Little Ice Age) led to a sevenfold reduction in the average number of avalanches per path each winter across the range as a whole. April 1, 2021 - Avalanche blocks Kishanganga's tributary in Gurez

A snow avalanche on Tuesday blocked a tributary of Kishanganga in Gurez and authorities sounded the alarm and advised people in low lying areas to relocate temporarily. Officials said that the situation has raised apprehensions about possible rise in the water level and flooding in the area. February 17 , 2021 - UDOT crew shares what it was like being caught in an avalanche

A Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) crew shared their experience of being caught in an avalanche while working on the road. Jake Brown, a roadway operations manager for UDOT, was driving heavy equipment to clear deep snow off S.R. 190 near an area known as "Seven Turns" around 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday. “All of a sudden, my windshield just filled up with snow and then next thing I know, my truck was hit,” Brown said. January 28, 2021 - ‘Miracle’ escape for man trapped in Alps avalanche

A man out walking with his family in the French Alps has made a miraculous escape from an avalanche after spending more than two and a half hours trapped under snow. The 50-year-old father was snowshoeing near the high-altitude Val d’Isere ski resort with his wife and two children without avalanche safety equipment. “Thanks to the mobilisation of nearly 100 people... the man was found alive after two hours and 40 minutes of searching,” the police for the local Savoie region announced.
